Class Advice

#1
Hey guys, I was looking to start a new account after quitting for a couple years. Is ranger a good class to start off with? When I say this I mean—drops aren’t too rare, relatively cheap, and relatively easy to level.

Ranger drops used to be fairly common, but now that Rangers are getting more popular at endgame, lines for endgame gear are getting longer on most servers. Rangers are (in my opinion) the easiest class to solo level with minimum gold and plat needed. Decent attack skills, a decent heal, and some mob stopping/slowing skills mean that you can usually survive for a while when leveling. They can be a little slower to deal damage with though, compared to a rogue/mage or well built warrior (at lower levels, without much gear).

So my best bet would be to just go with a ranger then? Also, how is Sulis as a server? You seemed to be well established in Sulis!

This is a weird conversation being held across multiple forums  . I personally would recommend a Ranger, but people have different preferences. For people who don't mind spending money on the game, it can be a slightly slower class.

Sulis is pretty decent, I'm not really active these days (a mix of a busier life and boredom with bossing) so I'm not quite up to date on the current clan situations. There's a couple endgame clans that compete for endgame bosses, and still fight for the main endgame armor bosses (Snorri and Unox). Drama is usually pretty limited, but there are always a couple hotheads who never quite know when to take it down a notch, especially after a close lock battle.
