New Player, Server Choice?

#1
Hey guys,

Recently downloaded the game, after quite a bit of research, and this game being 5 years old I'm sure communities have been established. Being an avid player in mmo games, I always check out the servers. Well so far no luck! what so ever in choosing one! Let alone a class to pick. I've read through the forums for each server and there is little to no activity, and I hardly get any responses in game, which makes my choice for a home really hard. If by chance I could get some feedback and some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I check out servers a lot and it really comes down to personal preference and opportunity.

My home server Morrigan is very good if your looking at end game and possibly joining my clan for end game experience. This server and others such as Crom value a clan is family mentality and are great if your looking for friendship and socialising.
The only down side is competing clans don't kill end game bosses except for EDL.

A server such as epona provides opportunity like dicing for drops no matter if your in a clan or not.
The down side of this Is low chances of getting an OP or high tier item yet still possible just unlikely unless your very plat rich and buy those items.

A server like Arawn will recruit lower levels into the top clans to help them grow and strengthen.
The down side to this server is all plat items are highly inflated in price. So it would be very expensive to play there.

There are smaller servers that struggle to or don't kill Gelebron (the hardest boss in the game) and you don't hear much about but are open to new players joining the server and grow.

Thank you, I guess I can tell you a bit of what I'm looking for, In the beginning of play I will gradually level, maybe a month or slow taking it easy, once I get a feel for the clans and how the server works. I will be a heavy plat buyer and level to end game as quick as possible. I guess you could say I would love to be on a server with a nice relaxed feel to it, Somewhere where it's fairly active, where I don't feel like I wasted money on a toon and get bored easily, where people actually hold a conversation lol. Also if you tell me about your server let me know what's a class you need.

I would suggest Epona, you may join Carthage if you wish or one of the other top clans Goonies/Anarchy.

The beauty of Epona is you don't need to be in any clan to join endgame raiding and u can enjoy the game as casual or hardcore as you want to be

Epona 100%, especially since it sounds like you want a chill/casual playstyle.

If you do decide to join another server besides Epona however, several things to keep in mind.

1. You'll probably have to join the dominant clan to get gear. In Epona you can join any clan you want and still have the right to roll.
2. Activity demands. Dominant clans usually ask you to camp bosses and lock them down (i.e. help your clan get gear + prevent underdog clans from getting gear). Therefore there is a stigma to hanging around in the Castle or other "noob areas" not helping the clan kill bosses. On Epona, nobody is forcing you to show up to bosses, in fact that's one less roller they need to worry about.
3. You probably will never have the chance to get Void/Godly items in the forseeable future. Many dominant clans operate on a point system to distribute loot, and being 5 years behind, there's no way you're going to catch up (at least not soon), so older players having accrued tens/hundreds of thousands of points just sitting there will always be able to outbid you.

My server is really great but that's my bias oppinion. we need warriors mostly but Mage is great too. If you make it into Avalon you won't feel like any things going to waste. We raid a lot and if active you would have high chances at great gear.

Our dkp system allows new members to quickly catch up to old active members. It's setup so people can't hoard points. Being way behind isn't a problem.

Yes, if you want to get a chance to win a jackpot item like void and godly items, join epona. With luck, you can win over those people rolling for 5 years and never got what they wanted.
In other worlds, you will have to earn it thru dkp. Gears will be hard to get if you want to camp castle, because we don't sell boss drops. Anyway, you won't need the gears just to hang out.
