You can be a hybrid for sure, ie going fire build but incorporating ice shards. Or the reverse ice with firebolt. But one thing is for sure, using two attunes on one mage is ridiculous. I'm not sure why you would even comment on something you have no experience with. I guess you haven't realized that they have tested, retested, retested again, and retested more and found this to be the most practical method until there are more mages leveled up
