Hybrid is very selfish, since you need to give up assassins lure (which every end game mage should have maxed).
you only need one or two mages with it maxed, everyone having it is a waste of dps.

not necessarily, im hybrid but instead of pierce lure I keep freeze maxed so I don't use clan's alts at gele. Any decent EG mage should be hotswapping enough to use 4 dps skills and a support lure as well as attune and their lure.

I prefer to keep shield maxed on gele and drop a support lure, the only time I die on gele is if he individually targets me (still happens alot) ice mage is great for freeze because you can run a freeze skull with your blast and shards braces. For gele specifically i drop frostbite for bolt (helps on ice crystals). so im a hybrid 90% of the time however i see that being in no way greedy im still optimizing my build to best help the raid and my clan.
My normal dps build is
Shards
Blast
Frostbite
Bolt
Ice Lure
Ice attun
Shield/assi Lure
Im a hybrid mage and still can have assi whenever necessary my dps is maximized for my gear and I can support whenever necessary without losing dps (I fail to see how this is greedy in any way)
