This quest is not worth the effort. By the time you muster up the patience to do it, you are level 60+ and eligible for warden.

One is in Crookback Hollow, near Bracken the Puppy, who drops only pawns.
This is incorrect on IOS. Can drop another piece than pawns I think.
For the dustwinter one I have only seen queen and king drop.

Im in the beta and I think it's much easier then before because there are no more place holders.

The chessmen quest has been changed in the new engine so that it is much easier to complete. The quest description says what mobs drop which pieces, and where to find the mobs. The mobs also have changed names (have been changed from chessmaster to rooks guard, queens guard, etc).
