When does the grind end?

#1
Hello there and for those that dont know me im Godzilla. I've been playing this game since Early December 2011 so im a fairly experienced player if i dont say so myself. For the past few months i have become very inactive and still check the forums every few days but just announcements hoping for good news.

Unfortunately there is never any news that i want to hear, ever since the release of this game its all about grinding. That is all it has ever been, just non stop grinding. When exactly does this grind stop? This game will be a ten times better (no exaggeration) if the camping and grinding aspect is removed, not saying it should be completely removed (cant have people reaching level cap in one week) but it certainly shouldn't take someone hundreds of hours to reach lvl 190+. This is a damn mobile game not a PC MMO (even PC isn't this ridiculous). For those that have reached 190+ i congratulate you on staying sane, and for those that are 200+... Well i advise you to get out more.

Lets say a new player has just started this game and want to reach endgame (190) in 2 months. Assuming you're using elixers the whole time. All by estimate lets say it takes:

10 elixers for 1-50 (5 levels per elixer)
40 elixers for 50-100 (1.25 levels per elixer)
120 elixers for 100-150 (0.42 levels per elixer)
50 elixers for 150-160 (0.2 levels per elixer)
80 elixers for 160-170 (0.125 levels per elixer)
140 elixers for 170-180 (0.071 levels per elixer)
270 elixers for 180-190 (0.037 levels per elixer)

In total this is 710 elixers which equates to 10650 minutes or 177.5hours!!!
Lets say this average joe is working 40 hour weeks and sleeping for 56 hours. Thats 96 hours out of 168 we have in a week. Assuming he has no friends or family to spend time with this bloke has to spend 22.187 hours per week just to reach end game in 2 months time. Woah hold it right there, that is a little over half of what this guy spends at his full time job. Initially this could be another job!

These numbers i have made up but are plausible, depending on your class and gear these times may vary but otherwise you will find this is pretty accurate. Also note this does not include the time taken to camp, acquire and grind gold for your gear which can easily add a ton to these numbers.

Take a good look at these numbers OTM and tell me where the fun is in all that, this is supposed to be a video game on a mobile device, a form of entertainment and NOT a second job which has a description of mindless grinding.

So for the last time OTM do something and i hope putting this into perspective opens up some peoples eyes. For the future of this game please change it...

Have fun and happy grinding!

It would seem part of the fun of the game is the social aspect. If you're entire goal is end game only then you're missing out on half of the allure of a MMO.
.
I think you are right about socialising being a big attraction but that doesn't make his post entirely wrong either.

Why have levels (and keep increasing the cap) if you as a developer don't think that is a major part of the game.

Its nice that effort is rewarded for those dedicated players that manage to get to 200 (congrats !!) but if i was a new player looking at those numbers i would play another game. Even taking into account the social aspect.

Next step of course is to calculate how much time has to be spent to play this as a free game. Who wants to dedicate their entire life to 1 game?
A Mage is like a Lamborghini, You don't get one as your first car or daily driver and there are cheaper cars that go faster and are more comfortable anyway.

The grind will never end as long as their focus is to keep players paying for xp elixirs and killing the same mobs over and over and over and over...

Very few games have open ended levels, those who have good end-game design have a level cap in place. But since CH offers nearly nothing, the only thing they can do is make higher level mobs. I don't know if Update 5 is the messiah everyone is waiting for. Mounts and Crafting isn't really for everyone. I certainly didn't level to 200 just so I can make a pair of boots.

Otm gains profit from grinding, espcially people who grind with lixs, so I doubt they will not do anything about this.
Yes there is profit but if you take those numbers and make it so someone can lvl with half the effort, you still have 355 lixes to get to endgame lvl. A 10 pack of just xp lixes runs 160 plat. It would cost 5680, $100 for 4k plat and. $50 for 1600 plat will almost get you there. Combos would cost more and the need for restos and idols add to that. Include hastes, hp, energy, travel, etc. and I can easily see how with even half the effort it would still cost at least $200 for someone to get to endgame lvl.

They may not pay the money themselves but someone does. Since that was factorin half, the real number is easily around $400.

That's just getting there too. Start doing bosses and more restos and idols are used. Someone has to buy the chests for fashion. The dollar amounts that someone spends to play, or provide goods for others to play, a free game are scary.
Beware the chickens, they are duplicitous.
