Yeah the low drop rates I feel like are to encourage trading.
Imagine your a rogue. You get a druid item. You sell the druid item so you can afford a rogue item in the future. That kind of idea is kind of the reason why the ah exists now. I still don't see how it could devastate only some servers when the whole economy is united into one economy. I feel like there are some issues obviously. As we have talked more about the issue, more people have come out with great ideas to stop abuses of the system and keep servers stable. As I see it, it is certainly going to have backlash, but in the end (if done well) it could really be an economic booster!

As of right now gold has hardly any buying power like it should have on many servers because there’s simply not enough things to buy, which causes inflation. It’s why you see things on Epona being sold for dirt cheap when compared with other servers. When gold has more buying power people are tempted to buy more and more chests, which makes plat items cheaper which makes everyone better off.

Thanks for quoting yourself I passed that comment. THANK YOU. This is an actual issue. I agree. This could be devastating. I could see a server get sucked dry. The problem though is some servers have not much activity to begin with.

So I started to see both sides now. Here's the issue: Some servers already have a bad economy. However, some have stable and good economies. Are we willing to sacrifice a stable economy to help others? If so, could it result in a bad server for all servers? The answer is yes and no. That's the issue. Is it isn't clear what will happen. It is just risky.

I was 100% okay with it until you brought that up. I still feel as though we can do something about it. We can just put NO WORLD TRADE on that item, but I feel like that is just a bandaid.

Here is the good news. Instead of just having one gelebron there are many. Other good news. From my economy class, there is a supply and demand line. Both the supply and demand are both increasing. I think that is self explanatory.

It is a problem though when one increases a lot more than the other.

You are saying that the demand will increase far greater than the supply. Well let's run through what would happen if either increased far more than the other.

The demand increases far more than the supply

The price in the auction house would just shoot up as more people want the same thing, but no one has as much. Since that price shoots up, buying power decreases for that item. Other items begin to rise and the buying power decreases further. Less people buy things, less buying power. However, something happens. You see this when a price goes too high. No one buys. Then someone sells for cheaper and no one can compete with a higher price and the price goes back down. So even though things may have been high at first the economy has a natural way of fixing itself when things get really overpriced. So yes the price would go up, but it would go down (but not as much). Overall the prices would be higher which is obviously bad.

The supply increases far greater than the demand

We may see this for something like this with warden boss drops, and maybe other boss drops for armor. The supply goes up further than demand. The price lowers and more people buy. More people buying equals more buying power which means more demand and prices go back up (but not as much). Which this ultimately is a good thing.

There are certainly going to be things in both natures. I don't believe weapons will crash the economy, but I do believe that they could certainly leave a dent.

Until now, I thought this was an infallible idea, but I believe there could certainly be problems with the weapons. Still don't think the idea should be shoot down though, but certainly we need to be careful. I will keep thinking about the weapons. I just haven't done much thinking about that.

I literally created an account to look at Espona. To be honest, your overall items to weapons ratio is about the same as my server (Sulis). Also, your server doesn't sell things at "dirt cheap." It is actually around the same price. Yes your pet tokens are cheaper, but that's honestly it. I actually take back what I said. It doesn't seem that concerning because the items you had were about the same in proportions. Actually it might be less than my server. So Sulis might actually help your server more than you think. Espona actually won't bring much to the table to begin with since it seems to be selling less weapons than other servers. Espona actually is already kind of sucked dry with weapons. That is the problem. My server can't sell and your server doesn't have much to buy. That is the exact reason why I believe this auction house could do some good. Your server has a ton of chest items, my server doesn't. It seems some servers specialize in different categories.

You see your servers buy chests because selling a weapon is hard to do with such a big amount of people.

My server sells boss drops because no seems to buy anything else.

I actually believe that servers have different kinds of holes that need to be filled. Espona is weapons, Sulis is chest items.

Epona’s AH is full of hot garbage for “boss drops.” Stop. I’m playing there regularly, and there’s absolutely no actual proof you could show me to say Epona’s magical gear rules would cause all the loot to disappear to other servers.

Secondarily, Epona players benefits from selling DL/EDL drops. Imagine being able to sell those cross server. Epona farming literally gets a buff.

I see decent equipment in the auction all the time. Gele weps, Hrung helms, etc... of course the trash will far outweigh the goods, which is to be expected, but there are definitely some good items in there more often than you think. Items that other servers would consider to be good.

As for the edl/dl... that’s exactly the problem. The edl/dl drops are for Epona players to buy, not other servers. Hence why Epona will get sucked dry and the players of Epona will be left with nothing because other servers are taking it all, giving gold less buying power, and making Epona worse off. Unless of course other servers allowed the selling of drops to help balance things out

But it’s really not the problem. You can profit significantly from it because of Epona’s rules. Nothing keeping you from rolling for the drops you need. Nothing keeps you from profiting off the “exchange rate” that has been created by the rules of other servers.

Reality check though - Crowns, Arcane, Runes, and Pures are literally the only market you will see significantly change.

And what do a lot of players in Epona do when they sell drops? They take that gold and spend it on a drop they desire. Hard to do that when other servers are sucking everything up. Gold will build up and up and up because there’s not as much to buy anymore, causing inflation which will hurt the server badly.

Woah that's a huge drop between the first and second item in that list ... trust me the type of hrung helms sold on Epona are very much safe where they are (I keep an eye on Epona market)

Prices will go up since supply is limited (whether it's actually seeked by other servers is debatable) and buying power of those out of server will weaken. Which side will be reached be first is not clear. Epona players are some of the richest in the game (aside from the 1 or 2 old collectors found on most servers). VR would probably have stats as to gold averages, skews and so on. Only then can the notion of Epona being dried up be supported or not.
