which monsters is fire resistance good against in the catacombs?

i keep on fumbling my ice magic spells, and told i should train.
but shouldn't there be an ICE MAGIC ability, just like wand, first aid and fire magic which will slowly rise????

do you know if it's better to use a wand or a normal weapon? they do more damage...

i think the distance for fireball should increase so i can hit an enemy twice with a fireball before it gets close to me and hits me as we are not good at close range combat
