Re: Apple now requires loot box drop rates to be disclosed

OTM deleted this thread from general discussion lol, they want to hide it... time to blow it up instead ;)
It was just moved to a more appropriate forum. Directly next to this thread.
How is this more appropriate? It appears more like OTM wants to prolong how long until it HAS to disclose this data and as a result wants to limit visibility that they do indeed have to.
This discussion touches on one of the key plat items bought by players and without any doubt OTM’s almost sole source of revenue. This is a large part of the game and not something that is “off topic.”
I really honestly doubt that it's a conspiracy to hide something. If they wanted to hide anything they would have deleted this topic. I'm sure that there are many meetings going on about this, how to respond to it, and what they need to do to comply. So the lack of news coming from OTM is probably just because they don't know what to do yet. When they figure it out I'm sure they will tell us.

OTM’s moderates know by now that deleting topics just makes them more popular as people will repost it on 3rd party software and it will resurface as replies in other threads. OTM knows by now to instead move it to a location that is less visited...
By labeling it as off topic OTM is stating that this is not relevant to them or the game, which is entirely contradictory to the truth of the matter...

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy, I think rather it was whoever is helping fill in while Muldar is on vacation trying to do damage control and not realizing what players have are questions as to when OTM will do this, not if.

In reality there is nothing to hide and there is nothing to respond to.
Reading various reports, it will be necessary to display the odds in game prior to a player purchasing loot bosses, chests, etc.
The way it is worded suggests that displaying the figures on a company website or somewhere similar will not be adequate. The player must be informed before purchase. Therefore the only way to ensure this would be to display it in game.
Apple cannot expect game developers to implement this overnight. There will need to be a realistic timescale to conform to this new requirement.
I very much doubt any company will provide the information before they are obliged to.
So the only realistic response to expect would be that they are aware of the new rules, they will be complying with the rules and that the figures will become available as and when they will be required for compliance.

Agreed. This is most likely exactly whats happening right now. So glad someone from the non-tin foil hat crowd replied :D
Then why hide the thread?
It isn’t a conspiracy, but why not simply respond with something like the following:
“Yes, we are aware of apples change of conditions and currently working to implement them into the game, we expect it to be implemented _____.”

Then players would ask:
“Can you tell us the drop rates now?”

OTM would respond:
“The drop rates will be published in game soon”

Moving the topic away because it is inappropriate? That isn’t a legitimate answer. Why not just tell us instead of us having to assume what’s going on?

Not a conspiracy, just wondering what all the hush hush is about.

I don't have a big problem with not knowing the rates for chest items or even drop rates of in game items. If I want it enough I'm going to buy more chances to get it or kill more bosses to get it. It wont be a game changer for me.
Wait until you spent thousands of dollars until you get a dragon egg.
That is a personal choice. You have to have a certain mindset to spend soooooooooo much on a game. Players probably expected to get a maxed dragon for $1k. What information we do have about its rate is that it's about as rare as a 4k plat jackpot if not more. The player has to take responsibility for spending that much, not otm. If you feel cheated after the fact. How much would an exact rate that is comparable to a 4k plat jackpot change your mind? This fact about it being a jackpot was on the firebreathe chests and otm has said here that they were a jackpot. You would have to win a jackpot 6 times.
